another lovely day here

So far,  contrary to the BBC, it has been and still is a glorious looking day on our West Coast. Very calm and I see the white sand beaches across the sea on Iona shining back at me.

It may not last but the air is also very special here and always has been with no pollution in the atmosphere at all.

Worth coming I say for the quality of the air anyway. If it rains today even that is coming from the clear atmosphere too. Might seem a a bit nutty but coming on holiday for the air quality is a good move !!!  But then they did that in Victorian times didn’t they ??

lovely morning

Its nearly y8pm here on the wonderful and serene west coast of Mull

If my friends hear of anyone thinking about coming to Mull and joining my Wildlife Tours please tell them to pre book because unfortunately I have had a number of particularly foreigners, who think I can just drop everything with no preparation and do  a tour there and then.

They are very welcome but must pre plan everything in wild places like this.

Eagle Island

Today we had big views of a number of White Tailed Sea Eagles sitting and flying and coming to land in their extravagant way with legs and claws extended and ready to grip a good perch in wild winds..

Visually amazing

Yesterday was another of those wonderful days that only The Hebridean Islands can conjure up.

Driving up Mulls national Scenic Area was again inspiring and at Calgary it was a lovely sunny day with the air so pure, which many other countries would die for.

Got all of the sightings we were looking for today

Well, on Wednesday we got all the sightings we were hoping for I think !!!!

So, Otters, White Tailed Sea Eagles in different places , female hen harrier, merlin, red deer females with young and stags and lots of smaller birds again plus all of the more obvious ones again.

My group were also very keen, which is always a bonus for me, as it is for all wildlife guides

Beauty

Its another one of those beautiful and inspiring Hebridean mornings, with a sea and landscape calm and at peace with everything and everybody.

This was again the place to head north for in the last few days and not the turmoil of City and suburban life in the rest of England and Europe.

Here you can escape and find your true self again and be genuinely inspired by real nature and the creatures that live within it.

Right now from my office on the west coast of Mull the grassland heading toward the sea looks like  carpet of pure gold and maybe it is, when Mother Nature has always been so kind to me, as I hope I have been kind to her.

BBC Weather Forecast

The BBC now consistently get the weather forecast for The Island of Mull very wrong, as was the case yesterday.

I was out with my friend Elizabeth and son and I don’t recall even a spot of rain.

Our list of sightings was pretty good I think with otters in two sperate locations, sea eagle, a close and colourful female hen harrier, red breasted mergansers, red deer, seals and plenty of smaller birds dancing past us, we also enjoyed homemade tarts, soup and sandwiches and tea coffee or juice.

The otter sightings stole the show because they have been very quiet lately but Elizabeth was on the ball with her excellent eyesight !!! Taught by me of course !!!

What will today bring I wonder?

Behold The Hebrides a place of true beauty

We had a lovely day yesterday and today is going to be even better by the look of it.

On a short trip to Salen to get provisions I had two sea eagles sitting on an islet and a female otter with two young close inshore. This is a good sighting because otters have been pretty quiet lately and I feel sure it is because of the reckless and very noisy driving that has been ploughing through the otters territories.

This truly dangerous speeding by drivers has to stop or be managed, rather than allowing this free for all that we have at present to continue.

What do our Community Council actually do   !!??
